The Arrowtown Holistic Fair occurs twice a year, in Autumn and Summer, bringing the spiritual community together to experience a full day of anything from massage, to astrology readings and finding that perfect crystal.
Founder and organiser Josephine Forster relocated from Auckland to Queenstown to be closer to family and decided to find some like minded people who were interested in the spiritual side of life. She met Susan of Rainbow Doorways, a crystal shop in Arrowtown, who put her in touch with others she knew who had their business cards displayed in the shop. With contacts of people offering all sorts of alternative services, Jo went ahead and contacted Ray White Real Estate as a sponsor of the event. Local Dan Move advised Jo on advertising and helped to create posters and other media for the event.
The Arrowtown Holistic Spiritual is now onto it’s 7th fair in April this year with founder Josephine observing that “we have touched a lot of people who were not aware of Spirit” and that the fair has a bright future in Arrowtown. The therapists and stall holders involved in the fair are mostly regular attendees and benefit from getting to know one another and what is on offer in the Holistic scene. Therapies range from healing massage, cleaning detox foot spas, astrology and clairvoyant readings as well as an impressive crystal stall, with high quality crystals and jewellery available.
The atmosphere is light and warm, with many people returning to the event. Locals are in full support of the fair and Jo’s efforts to unite the community by offering an event which is community orientated and brings consciousness to the community. There is a gold-coin donation (Koha) on the door with all proceeds going to local well-loved charity Happiness House. This is an important part of the community fair, in giving back to the people who need it the most.
